Just a few points on this speculative article.

It would be better for the D’s to have a decisive victory in 2020. A razor-thin win could result in some social unrest.

All those regulation cuts might turn out to be a good thing. It gives the next administration the opportunity to build fresh, rather than try to fix the old outdated ones.

If he does lose in 2020, the time between the election and handover will put him as a lame-duck president. It would be hard for him to initiate new things. The civil service would treat his EOs as something to ignore.

Having said that, USA should count on a little violence as a few real crazy people lose their champion will become a little crazier. But the bulk of the trumplings will be in their recliner by the time the Superbowl comes around.

In the meantime, the man keeps shooting himself in the foot. Suggesting Ambassador Yovanovitch was responsible for the downfall of Somalia probably convinced 50,000 non-voters to vote.
