Klein often used the term "disaster capitalism." That was one of several things that could have gone into my review but didn't for the sake of brevity.

Basically, a hurricane or major flood or war is an opportunity for some people to make a lot of money.

One thing that really struck me with Klein's work is her reasoning for stock markets going up when things are getting worse. Her take was that enough of the stock market has invested in disaster capitalism businesses, so bad things make Wall Street look good. Go figure!

I'm all for worker co-operatives. But many people I have worked alongside over the years have such a poor understanding of commerce that it would be a disaster to give them the reins of business, whether independent or democratically. The failure rate of new small business in Canada is about 80%, which speaks to the lack of knowledge.
