So true it is that defense manufacturers need educated workers to make artillery shells. That manufacturing requires a certain level of professionalism in its workforce, and that professionalism can be attained in high school subjects, even if these subjects do not teach much about making artillery shells.

The billionaires have deemed machinists and other trades as not that important. So wages have been driven down--and fewer people want these occupations.
