Many points well made here.

I'm an advocate for UBI, but we need to start slowly so as not to cause shocks to the economy. In my part of the world, a single person could survive with a C$1400 monthly UBI payment. Many would quit their C$1600 a month job. Necessary work would be left undone. Maybe start with C$200 a month. People won't be quitting their deadend jobs. But they will have another $200 to spend in the local economy. Then watch how the $200 UBI payment changes the economy. Increase it when it is "safe" to do so.

Eventually we are going to eat less meat. Many of those workers in your picture won't be working in meat packing plants any more.
