Many years ago, I invented at game where we could compared various electoral systems. The voters would vote the same, but there would be different results in the legislature, depending the electoral system used.

As I was reading this article, I was thinking of a different angle to this game. If the USA were composed of 10 states instead 50, it would more obtuse results. But 50 states with EC votes kind of averages things out.

BTW, I don't consider the EC as an overly undemocratic way of selecting the president. It had a great part to play in the formation of the early USA. Without it, Michigan to Oregon would likely be in Canada today.
