Matt: The trouble with political terminology is that definitions are often either imprecise or contentious. And often, there are shades of grey.

Anyways, I pulled this definition from wikipedia:

Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/ FASH-iz-əm) is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement,[1][2][3] characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy.[2][3] Opposed to anarchism, democracy, pluralism, egalitarianism, liberalism, socialism, and Marxism,[4][5] fascism is placed on the far right-wing within the traditional left–right spectrum.[6][5][7]

I believe Mr. Trump has the potential to go in all these fascist directions, especially when a lot of his base would prefer this political state over the current democracy. And we should add corruption (a lot more) to this list.

Of course, he will have to win the election. Then we will see where he takes the USA in his second presidency. If he doesn't win (which is likely), then this debate becomes a moot point.

But he is an old man with worsening health. A 45-year-old politician with these attitudes is a much bigger danger.

Will the Trump base find a replacement leader?
