Maybe you are right. I happen to agree with much of what Umair is saying. But I was at that state before I ran into Umair.

Are Umair and Jessica moving people to a better place? I don't see much evidence of that. I kind of doubt the Trump base is reading Umair articles, let alone adjusting their thinking.

If the goal is to elect the more responsible American political party, then Umair/Jessica readers should stop reading Medium and canvass for the Democratic Party. Per hour of canvassing, a good canvasser can probably find and convince one to five soft support D voters. How many extra votes are there in reading and writing for Medium?

Sorry, Umair is not recommending canvassing in his rants. I haven't read much Jessica, but I think she is the same. Having their faithful readers on the street looking for votes would cut into Medium incomes.

On the other side, I can see a lot of Umair and Jessica readers becoming more lost with "there is no more hope."

So not providing positive solutions and playing to a sense of hopelessness means these two popular writers are not moving the world forward.
