Micheal: I would have to agree with this article. Mr. Trump is not smart enough to not put together a coup. And his opposition is still quite strong.
So here's my point. If the American democracy can put a quasi-authoritarian in charge in 2016, could it not put a more competent authoritarian in charge in 2024 or 2028? Is it not feasible that that person is already taking notes what Mr. Trump is doing wrong--and building a competent team for a future political takeover?
If we really don't want this takeover, should we not be inspecting an alternative system of democratic governance?
