My experience with Monopoly is that when it played by the rules, it takes about one hour to find the winner.
And there's lots of house rules out there. One family I used to play with would move their houses around their properties to put the higher rents where certain players were more likely to land. The richer players were targeted. That rule seldom found a winner.
And then my cousins like playing a factions version. They would not charge rent on a faction teammate. LONG, LONG GAME.
The "No-Auction" rule is something I just heard of (maybe I bypassed that rule). I sure can see that rule reducing the finish time to 45 minutes.
My experience is that when a player starts mortgaging properties, there is little chance of comeback.
