My ideology is this:

1. There are situations where governments should let individuals make their own decisions and live with the consequences.
2. There are situations where governments need to take collective action to better society.
3. The balance between #1 and #2 is done by democratic due process.
4. After a decision has been made, it needs to be monitored for effectivenes and unintended consequences. If needed, the decision should be modified or scrapped.

How, then, is USA going to build on this ideology when its two-party system consists of decision makers more loyal to their parties than the people or the society?

It’s time for a new system.
