My process is having several articles going on the same time. It takes about one to two weeks from starting to publishing.

When I'm ready to publish, I enact the "read aloud" feature in WORD, and usually find a few gremlins. Sometimes I do this twice. Then I copy from WORD to MEDIUM, dress things up, and do another reread. I can usually find some improvements in text when I see it in Medium format. Hence, Medium is my last draft.

Many of my Medium articles are good little lessons in TDG governance. Putting them in a compilation made sense.

WHen preparing the compilation, I had not seen many of these articles for some time. Hence, I could see ways to improve them and a little rewriting was done. Then I gave the 160.000 word document to a copy editor. She found more gremlins and had great suggestions for improvement.

This document cost about $1000 for editing. So I won't be putting the second compilation to the marketplace until the first starts selling.

Maybe your comment had something to do with BYC getting reinstated. One of my followers/followees is an evangelical Christian. I don't think she would pressure Medium in this way, but she has difficulty understanding why BYC exists and has some popularity.
