My Rand phase came partially from my ability to finance my university education by working on the drilling rigs during the summer months. I graduated with no student debt, but I also made a big sacrifice when other students were working at easier jobs.
As mentioned earlier, I could not have entered university had our primary education system been structured under libertarian principles. And my university tuition (coming from drilling rig wages) only covered 10% of the costs of my education. The rest came from the Alberta taxpayer. NO ONE IS THAT SELF RELIANT. Not even John Wayne.
I took a look at the PBS link. Yep, a business model that was doomed to failure.
Our whole corporate structure needs to be reworked. I have some interesting ideas; now I need to find time to write them down.
