My sense of history is that Chamberlain did not have much choice. Britain and France were in no position to threaten Germany when Czechoslovakia was taken over. Both allied countries used the time to build up their armed forces, probably knowing the attack on them was coming soon.

In contrast, the west had the resources to end this war from the start.
