My take is that the constitution is somewhat vague if the House cannot ratify the EC votes tomorrow. All sorts of legal angles that can be exploited. That is a main reason the recalcitrant R's came onside.

With the leader in firm control on Tuesday, expect another challenge to Johnson's authority.

If the House cannot find a speaker, nothing gets done. Maybe this is deliberate.

A good reason for the prez to declare Congress as a useless institution. Let him make all the decisions.

Similar to the reasons why the Reichstag fell in 1933. Representatives were quarreling; the leader solved the problem.
