My understanding that an “advantage” was offered to the smaller states to entice them into the confederation. Had the states not united, history would be much different.

Whether that “advantage” was/is real or imagined — then or now — is somewhat of a moot point in my opinion. As this article has so well described, the smaller states were not united in their 2016 vote to give either candidate their political advantage.

Methinks this electoral college debate is a smokescreen for what really ails American politics.

But until the rules are changed, they are the rules!
