Nixon resigned because the voters were going to punish the Republicans very bad. The system seemed to work in that regard.

But system should have never elected Nixon in the first place. Trump should not have been a viable contender in 2016 and 2020.

The system is not going to change to "more than 2 parties" anytime soon. More likely, just one party.

Time to build a new democracy.
