Norm Young, you bring up an interesting point: our communities are not as geographical as they used to be.

Since I started this project 23 years ago, I have only encountered two original thinkers on improving democracy. One of them was a fellow who had an interesting idea on internet democracy. You might be interested in reading about it.

I too have thought about a different kind of constituency a lot. But every time I ran the ramifications of my voting group being scattered across hundreds of kilometers, I always come back to a geographical constituency as the best political unit.

One reason is that that we need a countervailing trend that teaches us to learn to how to care and share with people who are not the same as us. Our neighbors usually give us this opportunity. We need to be more connected with our neighbors.

It also helps the geographical community is still the easiest to manage from an electoral perspective.
