Not much time for watching TV series these days. But I shall keep Jericho in mind.

Anthropology gives all sorts of examples of how humans behave in small isolated groups. I just don't see an elevated philosophy coming from one such group and that group will eventually dominate the others. Fiercer groups--with a more primitive philosophy--will be doing the dominating.

I have a friend who made a lot of money in the Alberta oilpatch. He has his cabin in the woods, fully stocked and awaiting the apocalypse. Trouble is that unless he can form an alliance with at least 30 other people, his cabin will eventually be overrun by "bad" groups of 30 or more people. Property rights will not be respected in such a world.

I figure he will get a few months more of life compared to many people living in the city.
