Now this is bringing back memories.

As a kid, I used to watch the Ontario Royals (?). American roller derby teams (both men's and women's) would come to Toronto to play the Royals. And did those American teams ever play dirty. Kicking, biting, elbowing, clotheslining.

The captain of the Royals was Charlie Weaver. He got beat up so bad by the bad Americans. Yet he always managed, in the last minutes, to even up the score, usually beating New York or Boston or wherever. Man, you Americans were always so bad. Dirty, dirty, dirty.

Then the channels got mixed up.

Somehow we got a game of Ontario playing in New York. Now it was Charlie Weaver poking out eyes and giving knees to the groins. I don't think you Americans have forgiven us.

Actually, this should be a fantastic sport to watch. Maybe the injuries were just too much. It was a rough game. Rougher than rugby.
