Now this was certainly an interesting angle to "dystopia." It should make many people think. Unfortunately the Medium algorithms don't seem too kind to this article.
In his Foundation series, Asimov prophesized that democracy has a shelf life of two to three centuries before it falls in on itself--and society reverts to some kind of oligachy.
In 1984, the Orwellian proportions were 85% proles, 13% Outer Party, and 2% Inner Party. It is interesting to see how many different kinds of modern societies have gravitated to this hierarchy--almost as if it is human nature.
Anyways, we will "wake up" when we realized that western democracy contributes to dystopia. It needs to be cast aside--and a new system rolled in place.
