On one hand, this is somewhat funny. On another, it is also progress. Consider this dialogue I had with my elderly aunt:
Aunt: What's with all these peanut rules in schools? Nobody died of peanut poisening when I was a kid.
Dave: Yeah but sometimes kids just keeled over for no reason at all. Nobody knew why.
We are a lot safer than "the good old days." True many of us survived those times. Now a few more of us are survining. Is all this viligance worth the incremental improvement in safety?. Well, that would be another question.
