Once again, Ms. Martinchek is trying to bend the will of the Democratic Party with her dally Medium article. While many of her preferred causes are worthy to pursue, the unfortunate nature of this American election is about:

It's that simple.

From what I can see in Canada, Biden and crew are running a reasonably good campaign on that one line. There is little need to mention universal health care, student debt, and other things can could make America better. Very few new votes are going to be found in this way.

Mr. Biden is doing a presentable job of not being Mr. Trump. And he has a good pit bull for a VP pick who will influential in convincing a significant number of soft Trump voters not to vote.

And I don't think the D's are assuming an easy victory. Things can happen in politics rather quickly. They are playing hard. And I think they feel guilty for helping to vault Mr. Trump to top of the R primary in 2016, but don't expect them to admit that.

For all those great things Ms. Martinchek wants, who is she really going to vote for: Mr. Trump or Mr. Not Trump?

If Ms. Martenchek wants to get rid of Mr. Trump, she should canvass for the D's instead of writing Medium articles. By good canvassing, she could bring in 200 or more votes to the Biden side.

Then maybe a couple of months of canvassing, Ms. Martinchek will understand how politics really works: It's about winning elections, not bettering society.

Until we get rid of all political parties, that axiom will always be true.
