One advantage of a few consumers making similar choices as you is business leverage. If just 5% of buyers abandon their former brand because questionable practices--and spend their money to a more responsible brand, that first business loses a lot of profit. And the second business gains a lot more profit than it had before. Then in the long term, the second busienss could force the first business out of business.
A 5% change in buying preference can make a big difference in the bottom line. A 10% change will cause a big business "shake out."
