One force that needs to be talked about is that our legislative processes really can't handle all the things we need to fix. So the politicians have to set priorities.

Former Alberta premier Ralph Klein pretty much summed it up with: "Politics is managing the pressure points." His philosophy was to leave things alone until he was somehow forced to deal with them.

And when the will of the people is not unified, chances are things will be left alone. And then there is that campaign donation factor that directs some issues away from legislative floor.

Until we change the system, expect more of the same.
