One of the first signs of the transition was the homeless people in the streets. That didn't happen under communism.
The communists did quite a few things right.

I haven't been back to Eastern Europe since 2006. But I can understand the frustration of people with their politicians.
Western democracy is not the utopia that was sold to them.
