One of the lies is that American democracy is the finest version of democracy ever invented. Even the people who are "under no illusion America is falling apart" still believe in American democracy as the only way to govern.

I too read that Atlantic article and saw it as how inept government really is. I'm from Canada and we are given worldly accolades for our efforts in fighting Covid-19. It makes us feel good to be better than Americans. But the truth is that our per-capita figures are 60% of the USA's. Not exactly a sign of a much better governed society. Oh yes, we too did not stockpile on medical supplies--we are so smart.

It is time for a new democratic way.
