One possibility I see for the USA's future is a one-party state, which will require an organized armed movement outside the military. It is doubtful that such a movement will be all that democratic. Opposition leaders will be jailed and unfriendly media will be shut down. In essence, free speech will be gone.

I was in Czechoslovakia in 1990. I spent some time in a pub with a "yuppy" who was a little lost with the new way. He had just spent three years of weekends attending "communist school," where he learned about how "well" the communist" ideology works. He had just earned his communist membership. All the career opportunities he was striving for were gone.

In Czechoslovakia, about 5% of the population were communist members. Only they got to vote. Only they could be voted for. Only they participated in discussions about the future of their country. And there were all sorts of connections to help a communist member have a little better life than the average Czech or Slovak citizen.

I believe any overthrow of an "American tyrannical government" will produce a similar electoral system as the communists: i.e. only a small minority have the power. While it is more likely that this new system will come from the political right, it is also possible from the political left. Neither side will allow the other side and centralists into the decision-making realm.

If this is the definition of "republicanism, " where only the "wise" can govern, then so be it. But it sounds more like "feudalism" to me.
