One the Roman Emperors said: “Give them bread and circuses”. If the plebes are not hungry and they are sedated, they don’t revolt. Professional sports are today’s sedation.

And that’s the way the powers that be want it.

Yes, and that includes controlling the current discussion about “reforming” democracy. For example, I have encountered a handful of Medium contributors who believe electing the president by popular vote instead of electoral college will improve American democracy. While such a change may have changed the “big chair” in 2000 and 2016, all the foibles of American politics would still be well in place. Those underground forces who want to keep things the way they are are happy with the EC debate being front and center. Even if the EC is cast aside, those forces will still have their way.

A couple of days ago, another Medium contributor made a profound statement. Keeping Congress capped at around 550 representatives means the lobbyists have an easier time to get their way as compared to a 4,000 member Congress.

The TDG will move a lot more citizens into governance. And there will be a lot less professional sports being watched.

Read the entire book. Tell your friends.
