One thing that many off-grid stories fail to leave out (including this one) is sewage.
I believe that RV's require a periodic dump (pun intended), probably a least once a week. That means starting the RV and driving it to an appropriate disposal site. Probably an hour or two of extra hassle.
Then the sewage system of an RV is somewhat complicated. Piping, valves, and pumps. These things wear out. Expect a small repair once a year. A big repair every five years. And during repairs, there is an inconvenience of some kind.
Hooking up to a traditional sewage system sure has its advantages.
