Part of the problem with western democracy is that if politicians get too deep into policy--at least at a public level--it opens up their party to all sorts of attacks from their political opposition. So the tendency is to keep the issues somewhat dumbed down--at least at the public level. There's an adjective to describe politicians who can't dumb things down: unelected!
Having said that, those of us on the outside can easily take the high road and offer new alternatives. But how do we move them into forums to where the audience is not our echo chamber?
Before the Atlantic departed from Medium, they published an article about "trolls" posing as ardent members of the Trump base. They were framing issues such that it appeared they were still trumpees, yet were sowing seeds of doubt on these forums. Maybe these are the real people who can save the USA.
