Political parties are made up of ambitious people who are trying to gather status, influence, and power. In exchange for these “privileges”, aspiring politicians have to sacrifice their principles to stay with the brand that will better their chances of electoral success.

Really, they are partisans first, and legislators second.

That’s the way it always has been. The Trump presidency is just making it obvious.

It’s time to change the system. It’s time to get rid of political parties.
