Ray: I had to think about this article for a bit. The more peaceful approach is a worthy goal.
In order for western democracy to work as it does, it requires an opposition to the government. With this clash, the voters can determine who is wiser and deserves to govern in the next round. If there is not much opposition, then the "active side" kind of gets a free ride to implement its vision without much societal inspection. So while I am critical of a lot of the activist movement for its confrontational ways, these ways are necessary for democracy to work as well as it does. If a softer approach is taken, activist causes tend not to get as much notice:

Reforming one's character, which includes a developing a deeper understanding of how things should work, is a noble cause. Unfortunately for every person undertaking this life journey, today's political process is convincing five people to adopt a more negative value system. So what direction is society actually going toward?

I have just finished a six-article political series on Medium. It was inspired by the many article I have read on Medium blaming the non-voters for the mess USA is in. I really can't see how such talk is going to help get non-voters to the polls.
