Remember, this says more about us than it says about them. They are only providing what we want.

I had an interesting discussion with Sam Young, another Medium contributor. After several back-and-forth posts, I have acquired a better hypothesis as to the Medium business matrix. Basically, the top writers on Medium are good at converting "lurkers" into "subscribers." Most of these subscribers do not write and publish any articles. They just read--and maybe clap and comment. I suspect many of them forget their credit card is being charged a small fee each month.

Turning lurkers into subscribers is the function of the top writers. Hence they get preference in the feeds.

I am putting an article together to better explain this concept. But my Medium traction is taking another nose dive. Very, very few are reading my stuff, which cannot turn lurkers into subscribers.

So I am putting my spare time into writing three more books.
