There are several forces at play here. I think it is too easy to blame the education system.
First is, I believe, the slow erosion of the middle class. When too many people feel there is little hope for advancement for them or their children, they will find agitators to take advantage of their nothing-to-lose outlook.
Second is the rather large cult. It will be hard for those inside this cult to come to the right conclusion. After all, they have built their social and support network around similar thinkers. If they turn their thinking around, . . . well, they will find ways to not turn their thinking around.
Third, this group sees a revolution in the future. They want to see their demographic higher in the new pecking order.
And I would say that they would that you and I need to hook ourselves up the BS detector--to find the real truth.

I don't have a short future answer to this problem. If Mr. Trump gets behind bars, some might see the lights. Others will get more entrenched.
My long term answer is to build a new democracy----one that would likely not vault someone like Mr. Trump into high office.
And this new democracy would not pay lip service to the middle class.
