Robert Heinlein had a short story (can’t remember the title). The protanganist is a mentally disturbed man, convinced the world is conspiring something for him. He wants to take a trip out of the city. Many people in his life try to talk him out of this trip. But, in the end, he decides to go.
The last bit of dialogue:
“We couldn’t convince him.”
“OK, start setting up Chicago now. When he’s on the similated plane, tear down New York City.”
