Sally, this impeachment “solution” will not be effective in the long term regardless of how skillful the D’s play this card.

First off, it has taken away hours and hours of oversight that USA’s elected representatives should have been putting into new legislation.

Second, this impeachment opens the door for more impeachments. Right now, the R’s feel that this impeachment is mostly about trivial affairs, so they will be justified in impeaching the next D president for silly things. On the other side, if Mr. Trump does win in November, expect an annual impeachment until 2024. The USA could be heading towards a conveyor belt of impeachment hearings, which is not good for governments getting things done.

Third, the next round of opposition candidates may not be effective in impeaching — or unintended consequences may surface. This particular impeachment could still backfire on the D’s from a political angle, but less likely than it was a couple of months ago. In other words, USA should not go to impeachment to solve its problems.

Which then leads to my fourth point, the problem is USA’s electoral system. Why is nobody on Medium asking why did someone like Mr. Trump become elected in the first place? Why is nobody on Medium asking why did Americans have only one voting alternative that would have brought a different set of controversies to the office?

It’s time for a new system. And you know that I have a solution for that.
