Scott: Your logic and facts may indeed be correct. But the trouble is that 30% of Americans will not side with this position, regardless of how well the logic and facts are presented.
Laws are only good if a vast majority believe most of the laws are fair and just. If this is not present, then it's so easy to justify disobeying laws. It becomes easier to go to 1787 then to look at the all the years between 1787 to 2021 if 1787 is more in line with one's political position.
In 1974, Richard Nixon was forced to resign because the higher-ups in the Republican Party knew the Republican Party would suffer immensely in the next election if they did not throw Nixon under the bus. They were ready to convict him if he did not resign.
A few months back, 30% of Virginians voted for the Republican candidate in its gubernatorial election--despite the antics of the Republican Party since January 6, 2021. There is no Nixon-like punishment happening here. To me, this election is the most significant event in recent American history that is revealing the psyche--and future--of the USA.
