Sensible firearm legislation is a worthy goal. We need to send the disobedient a month or two in prison. More time for repeated offences. Eventually the cost of a firemarm (of this kind) will become too big of a risk to have in one's possession.

But we need to understand that it will take 10 years for the statistics to start "going down." In other words, we need a long-term plan that has to survive several election cycles.
