Several people here have mentioned that SAT scores are not that important in gaining admission. So then I have to ask: "Why go through this SAT? It is quite expensive and time consuming."

University admissions in Canada are mostly based on high school marks. Secondary is your residence, for you are more likely to get selected in your home province.

I like your take on prior admissions before affirmative action. If it mostly true, then it seems we have forgotten this reason for affirmative action.
