Sigh! Another political mechanic with no idea of what is wrong.

First, the electoral college is not an overtly undemocratic process. It cannot vault an unpopular candidate over a popular candidate. Mr. Trump got 62m votes to Ms. Clintons 65m. He was a credible candidate in the eyes of many Americans. And Ms. Clinton knew the rules of the EC, so she could have adjusted her campaign strategy.

Second, changes such as suggested will still leave the political parties in place in the USA. They are the problem, not the electoral college. They parties have to go away to solve the political divide.

Third, USA should be thankful it going through the Trump experiment now. The next populist leader (who could come from the left) is likely to learn from Mr. Trump’s mistakes.
