Since the 1970s, most Canadian cities have been mixing the economic classes in the new neighborhoods. Well, there won't be a walkup apartment right next to a million dollar house, those two residences might be a only a block apart. The sociologists say that the lower incomes benefit from this mixed housing: few police calls and higher school outcomes when the classes are mixed to some degree. People behave differently when their neighborhood is not so dysfunctional.
