Since the founding of our country, the "veto" power of the King/Queen of England has never been used. Canada behaves like a republic.

Republicanism has taken the USA to a certain point. But on January 6, there was an insurrection to do away with the electoral results of November 4, 2020. Had they had their way, there would be no more elections today. I believe Republics are supposed to have elections to choose their political leaders. But maybe there is another definition out there.
