So more people want Tshibaka than want Murkowski, but we'll still get Murkowski. That's not a fair election.

This is how RCV is supposed to work. People can vote for their first choice--even if that first choice is unlikely to win. Then that vote is cost towards the second choice. More than one round is often the case with RCV. Eventually someone gets 50%+1. Sometimes second or third place on the first round can win.

I don't know how RCV will work in the USA with all its election machines. But if imposed on Canada, paper ballots will work out fine. All voting stations can have partisan scrutineers to watch the tabulators do their sorting and counting.

Alaska has many great people for public service. The problem is that few of them will want to go through the rigors of partisan politics to serve in that way. This leaves the field open for second raters and third raters,

RCV does not solve this problem of finding society's better political talent.
