So true it is that we put people into government who are really not ready to be in government.

I find it strange that we have this relatively new humanistic field called "political science," yet so few students of this field ever end up in politics.

I like to analogize that running an election campaign versus running a society is like driving a car versus driving a 18-wheel truck. There are a few things we car drivers can take into the big rig, but we need a lot more training. In other words, winning an election is not enough to be good in governance. Yet giving licensed car drivers keys to the big rig is exactly what we are doing.

We need a process where elected representatives can be trained and evaluated before they are given "the keys to the big rig."
