Something to think about, that's for sure.

I am probably one who has used "envy" and "jealously" interchangeably. I couldn't grok the differentiation between the two with this article. So I want to dictionary.com

Envy = a feeling of discontent or covetousness with regard to another's advantages, success, possessions, etc.

Jealousy = resentment against a rival, a person enjoying success or advantage, etc., or against another's success or advantage itself.

I'm not seeing a big difference between the two terms. To me, envy is still a negative emotion.

If someone else has something that I don't have, I just might say that "I want that too." If I am using that person's attainments as an example for me, I need not go through any discontent to get that something else. If so, I would not call myself envious.

But maybe there's another emotion hiding--and I just might be fooling myself.
