Sometimes politicians do move society forward against the will of the majority. Sometimes they are "punished" for it; sometimes not.

I can only say that politicians who advocate for correcting many injustices can be described with this adjective: unelected. Things move too slow in our current system.

I got thinking about my last response. In Canada and the USA, negative advertising is used to convince the soft support of the other side not to make the effort to vote. In my opinion, this has become the biggest campaign tool in these two countries.

Given that Australia has compulsory voting and is reasonably good at getting 90%+ of the citizens voting, is negative advertising used in Australian election campaigns?
