The natural order of humanity seems to be: 2% running the show, 13% supporting those running the show, and 85% eking out a survival income. Those stats come from Orwell's 1984, and it's not hard to see how other societies are/were structured in that way.

The post-war years gave the western world an aberration to that historical structure. The middle class got bigger and many of us got to enjoy a few of the finer things of life. And it seems we are going back to Orwell's 1984. Many Trump voters are feeling this change.

It seems western democracy is not capable of keeping the middle class intact.
