I went to your essay from the link. I found the first half of the essay wandering all over the place. There were many topics that could have had their own essay. It seemed you were using the term "liberal" in the classic sense, which has morphed into another definition for current times. As well, it seems you have used the term "liberal" to put all sorts of political ideologies under that umbrella. To many political thinkers, libertarianism does not equal today's liberalism.

The second half of that essay was more focused. Your DDI was another form of UBI. Of this social program, I am definitely in favor.

I'm going to bring back one paragraph of your previous response and change two words:

"The political LEFT in this country has developed an irrational hatred of political CONSERVATISM. Actually, they are transitioning from that to the delusion that 'the truth', even the truth about material reality, can only be whatever they deem it to be. Politically, reaching out to them is as sensible — and less likely to end positively— as reaching out to a rabid dog would be."

THEY believe that WE are just as stupid as WE think THEY are. And this creates a vast political divide.

This divide has been created by the competition for votes that our current electoral processes encourage. One may believe that working within that system, the divide can be conquered to a significant degree. I'm not one who believes this divide can be bridged within the current system. But I have been wrong before.

Regardless, bridging that divide is going to take several decades. You have the challenge of trying to convince some of the 74m people who voted for Mr. Trump to read your essay and come to a "true" understanding of liberalism, so that we can come together. An immense task indeed.

My position is that once 1% of Americans start working on the TDG, it will take about 20 years to build it. Then the USA won't have an electoral system that fosters the divide.
