In the aftermath of January 6, 2021, I was amazed at how many Medium and media pundits really did not understand what had happened on that day. Far too many people believed this was just another ruckus protest that got a little out of control. It almost seemed that everyone wanted to believe this was all it was.

I could see this protest was a definite attempt--despite its vague goals--to upset the apple cart. I believe it almost succeeded. Had a smarter leader been in that leadership position . . . . . .

While I won't claim my article had much influence, we can now see that many pundits now see January 6 for what it was. So my Medium feed has been pretty full of articles that understand the stakes--and that history can repeat itself, even in a democracy. I'm also getting the same feedback from my time on Mastodon. Many on this platform understand.

78m Americans were eligible to vote in 2020, and chose not to. Maybe all this noise is finally reaching them. I don't know. I guess we'll find out in a year.

The USA may dodge a bullet in 2024. But is bullet dodging all the country should be doing?

As you know, I am an inventor of an alternative democracy. When will the "wiser and kinder" 1% of American investigate this new idea?
