I was up late last night watching science channel. I went through a few commercials about phoning "hot singles". It was not difficult to figure out who were the the customers and who were the service providers. The ladies working on these phone lines would probably be called sex workers.

I cannot verify whether these ladies would be independent employees or pimped out. If pimped out, they might be reporting their income to the tax authorities to give the appearance of legitimacy. But the pimp still keep everything. We should not assume that any worker is truly a free entity in this business. The pimps are masters of psychological control.

I don't have a solution for this problem. Except maybe a Universal Basic Income, which should help convince many providers to never enter this profession.
